Description

Wiley Post sets world record - original New York Times newspaper from July 2, 1931
Description:
This is a historical and original Late City Edition of the New York Times newspaper from July 2, 1931, reporting on aviator Wiley Post and navigator Harold Gatty setting a world record by flying around the globe in a little over 8 days. Beyond just the extraordinary 5 column headline is a map and several other stories, including a full-page pictorial of the event inside.
Condition
:
This newspaper, sold with a Historic Newspaper Archives COA, is sealed in plastic and I’ve not broken that seal since I purchased it in 1992. That is why all the photographs depict it in said plastic. The paper has a general, over-all yellowing as you’d expect newsprint from the era to have and in my opinion, it does not detract. The corners are sharp and there is nothing out of the ordinary to disclose. It is in very good shape. Please see the photographs.
Measurements
:
This newspaper is from a time when they were full sized and impressive. The folded edition measures 17 ½” wide and 11” long that would double to approximately 22” if/when unfolded.
I try to accurately describe my items and/or provide photographs that are illustrative of condition. Feel free to ask any questions and I’ll do my best to answer them. If you need to return it to me, I kindly ask that it be the same item, in the same condition as you received it and you pay the return shipping fees.
