    Description

Please email with any questions.Ex-library soft-bound month of January 1939 issues of the Macon Telegraph. No Sunday color comics but daily comics: Moon Mullins, Lil Abner, Little Orphan Annie, The Gumps, Jane Arden, Bela Lanan and Tailspin Tommy. Some focus on the War but there are many local and regional stories- some quite odd and interesting. Front page news is the story of Telegraph reporter Susan Myrick who was off to Hollywood to act as technical adviser for the filming of Gone With The Wind. There are some great ads including movie theaters, grocery stores, department, clothing and shoe stores. Included in a movie ad for a film starring Paulette Goddard is the question "will she play Scarlett?"- Goddard being one of many actresses vying for the role of a lifetime. There are one or two clipped sections of pages- neatly done and a few pages with tears. Otherwise, in nice condition, paper needs careful handling but is not so fragile that it can't be enjoyed.
