Assembled collection of letters, illustrated mimeographs, announcements, a photograph, etc. More than 60 pieces in all, some loose, and a number of items mounted to disbound scrapbook pages.
Collection assembled by Phil Turner, a circulation manager for this newspaper, and one of the men responsible for managing the paper’s newspaper boys.
Turner saved letters and a large assortment of other ephemera pertaining to the newspaper’s subscription contest for its newsboys, with the grand prize being a free trip to Havana, “Gay Capital of Cuba.”
The scrapbook includes some documents relating to the Trip to Havana itself, in which Mr. Turner was “in charge of the party.” Includes the official documents needed to make this trip to a foreign country. Including two-signed letters from Cuban government officials.
