    Description

In my high school, Mary Maguire, Chris Siano and their minions were the “mean girls,” whose goal it was to make sure a lot of girls would forever have a bitter memory of their high school experience. Luckily, there were also the antithesis of mean girls, nice girls who managed to achieve their goals AND be kind, helpful and encouraging to their fellow girlkind. In Barbie’s world, a group of nice girls kept their eyes on the prize, earning scholarships to attend a private girls’ boarding school that offered college-level curriculum courses as well as a variety of extracurricular activities. These are their stories.
THIS auction is for meteorology major Lori Spangler, nicknamed “Hurricane.” She IS included with the outfit. She is part of the new generation of Barbie dolls—flat-footed, smaller-more-proportionate figure. Lori became interested in meteorology after witnessing a hailstorm when she was 6 years old. She collected as many of the hail stones that she could and put them in the freezer, thinking they would make great ice cubes to use at her lemonade stand. Daughter of a military family, Lori lived in several different states, learning to respect the phenomena of tornados, hurricanes, and other types of storms. Watching the nightly weather report on the family T.V. was her one constant during the many moves the family made over the years. Her competitive nature led her to Racquetball, which keeps her fit, and she and her like-minded classmates created the Weather Watcher Squad that uses social media outlets to alert the community to threatening weather. She also LOVES to bowl. Each time the family moved, they made a tradition out of going to the local bowling alley their first weekend in the new place.
Her senior quote: “If you want to see the sunshine, you have to weather the storm.”      –Frank Lane
For her senior picture, she is wearing (Barbie label) hip-hugger jeans with incorporated belt, paired with a (Barbie label) black tee with white stars and cutouts at the shoulder. Her 20 accessories include: white tennies, a black-with-Aztec design ribbon purse, a black leatherette tote with cool face cabochon, a white choker necklace studded with stars, a gold bracelet, open-star earrings, white-rimmed sunglasses, meteorology textbook, “Extreme Weather” magazine, a composition notebook, a student I.D. with her photo, cell phone with lightning strike cover, credit card, cash, white comb, tissue pack, orange paddleball racquet, a bowling set with 5 pins and a ball, a “Strong” energy bar (which eluded the photograph but is definitely included), and lightning bolt poster for her dorm room.
All the clothing has been freshly laundered and mended if necessary. Unless noted as new, assume the clothing pieces saw some play time before I acquired them for my Nice Girls fashion project.
    From a non-smoking, Barbie-loving, no-bullies-welcome home.
