Description
I’m guessing this was made in Japan, with included instructions printed in Japanese and was made in the 40s. It belonged to either my grandfather or my father. It works, insert two C size batteries and you’re on your way. The batteries I was using were almost dead and were giving out very little light. This is in very good shape considering it is 80 years old. The original box is in great shape including the price tag of .15. The box is made of cardboard and the hinge is fully intact. There is a cardboard insert used to keep the box rigid and serves as an acceptor for the lid. One corner is separated on the side of the box that has a little crush and wrinkle in it. The bottom has a stamp that says 'Made in Japan '.The instructions say made in Japan on the back. Inside the lid there are recommendations for use: "Banks and securities companies to check signatures and seals, spinning companies and wholesale drapers to examine fibers and textiles, automotive repair shops to inspect plugs and the like, machine industries to scrutinize the conditions of taps and drills abraised, inspecting or experimental laboratories as simple substitute for microscope, photography and retouching of pictures printed and enlarged and convenient for home use, Doctors, stamp collectors."
The flag and nickel were used for color and size confirmation are not included. Thanks for looking.
