SEE PHOTO-----An ORIGINAL features section (#10) of a NEWSPAPER, the NY Times dated April 13, 1930. This newspaper features contains a prominent inside page headline: "SPEAKERS ON PHONE SEE IMAGES OF EACH OTHERS" with a long detailed account of the
Invention of the television telephone combination
(by Bell Labs) where a person on a telephone can see the person to whom they are speaking.
This marks the first public announcement of the phone / television combination from some 90 years ago, a "miracle" which is taken for granted by many at this time in 2019.
This issue is the complete features section only, NOT the entire newspaper. Great for display purposes !!!
WHEN the possibility of television was recognized, the first application that suggested itself was to show the image of a person hundreds of miles away. A natural development was to superpose a television on a telephone system so that the hearer could both see the speaker and hear him talking. A form of two-way television was demonstrated in New York by the Bell Telephone Co. on April 9, 1930.
