1903 newspaper AFRICAN-AMERICAN CIVIL RIGHTS STRUGGLE on a TRAIN in the JIM CROW ERA
    - inv # 1C-212
SEE PHOTO----- COMPLETE, ORIGINAL NEWSPAPER, the
    Oregon Journal
    (Portland) dated Nov 10, 1903.
This newspaper contains a prominent front page RED heading and long detailed report of a
NEGR0 newspaper editor and his 2 Black companions denied proper dining car service on a train in the JIM CROW ERA in US history.
This early African-American Civil Rights fighter made a one man protest and almost caused a riot on the train.
This early episode of racial discrimination reminds me of ROSA PARKS some 50 years later on a Montgomery, ALABAMA bus !!
Very good condition. This listing includes the complete entire original newspaper, NOT just a clipping or a page of it. STEPHEN A.
